Deutsches Kunst Eagle

Deutsches Kunst Eagle

Here we are pleased to show one of the rarest items of Nazi Militaria that we have been lucky enough to purchase
It's one of the 8 Deutsches Kunst Eagles as shown in the July 1939 colour film of the Festival and Parade Celebrating German Culture which was attended by Adolf Hitler and the top NSDAP Government ministers and Armed Forces top brass.
This festival was over a several day period where the Munich streets were decorated hugely..These large eagles which are roughly 23 inches high with a 28 inch wingspan are made of beaten repousse copper panels soldered together which were then gilded. For their size they are very lightweight and could be carried easily atop of the banners which represented Teutonic Knights from centuries past. There are only 2 known to exist. As per Third Reich Eagles website information (which we thank for). On this particular one It has the correct small stubby 3d swastika as is evident in the period images attached.
Most of the Gild has subdued over the decades leaving only traces on the solder joints, it is totally untouched exactly as we prefer items in our collections to be. An outstanding Deutsches Kunst Eagle.
