German WWII Medals

German WWII Medals

Here we are extremely happy and proud that we were given the opportunity to buy this lot of totally mint unissued German WWII medals that were taken by a Canadian Infantry Soldier named Lyle Stockwell who landed at Juno Beach on DDAY. We purchased these beautiful medals direct from his Grandson Pete and his wife Kim to whom we are extremely grateful
We are currently waiting on period photographs of Lyle Stockwell..These medals have been hidden away for decades until last week..
Whilst there is some very common awards like an EK2 , War Merit Crosses, Cased Luftschutz medals etc
The gems in this group are obviously
The stone mint
EK1 cased Spange by Mayer
Cased KVK 1st class without swords
The Cased 8 year SS service medal , type 1 by Deschler
The very rare Cased 12 year SS service medal complete with its ribbon , it doesn't even appear that the ribbon has ever been unfolded.
Also there is the case and ribbon for the even rarer SS 25 year service medal
Unfortunately the actual medal has long since been lost to time, which is a pity
As trying to find a mint condition 25 year SS service medal will be a challenge to say the least..
Of interest,  the SS 8 year medal was actually in the 25 year case and by the imprint of a circle,  it's obviously been in the wrong case for a very long time.
There also was a common 25 year service medal in a Polizei 18 year service medal case..
We can only surmise that Lyle was grabbing German WWII medals in a hurry. It just goes to show that there is still pieces of History out there awaiting to be discovered and tell the story of these brave soldiers..
