WWII German Luftschutz Cap
A great example of a rarely seen overseas cap. The Luftschutz (Air Defense) service cap was worn by civil air defense personnel during the Allied bombing campaigns against German cities — the men and women who staffed the air raid warning networks, shelters, and rescue services.
Luftschutz items are genuinely uncommon in the collector market. Unlike military branch items that were produced in large quantities, civil defense equipment was produced in smaller runs and was less likely to be brought back as war trophies by Allied soldiers.
This example is in good condition and represents a side of the WW2 German home front that is often underrepresented in collections focused on combat equipment.
