WWII German Heer Dagger
The German Heer (Army) officer dagger was introduced in 1935 as a standard sidearm for Wehrmacht officers. Produced by dozens of Solingen cutlery firms, each example carries the hallmarks of its maker — blade etchings, crossguard stampings, and grip materials that allow precise attribution to manufacturer and production year.
This example retains its original scabbard with fittings intact. The pommel and crossguard show the typical field grey oxidation of a piece that was carried rather than stored — evidence of actual service rather than a parade piece kept in a drawer.
Heer daggers are among the most widely collected German edged weapons of the Second World War. Their combination of functional design, quality Solingen steel, and branch-specific insignia makes them a cornerstone of any serious German militaria collection.
