WWII German Luftwaffe Dagger
The Luftwaffe officer dagger is one of the most visually striking German edged weapons of the Second World War. Introduced in 1935, it features a distinctive yellow grip, a stylised eagle crossguard, and a blade etched with the Luftwaffe motto. This example retains its original hanger — the leather and metal suspension system that allowed the dagger to be worn from the belt — making it a complete, displayable set.
Luftwaffe daggers were produced in two main patterns: the 1st model (1935) with a plain pommel, and the 2nd model (1937) with a more elaborate design. Both are highly sought after. The presence of the original hanger significantly increases desirability, as hangers were frequently separated from the dagger over the decades.
This grouping of five images documents the dagger from multiple angles — with hanger, without, blade detail, crossguard, and pommel — giving a thorough record of condition and authenticity markers.
