WW2 German Police Stag Dagger

Personal collection — not for sale

One of the more desired German daggers out there. The German Police dagger is distinguished by its handle made with stag horn and a metal police shield — a combination that sets it apart from the more common military branch daggers and makes it immediately recognisable to collectors.

The German Police dagger was introduced in 1936 for officers of the Ordnungspolizei (Order Police). The stag horn grip was a deliberate design choice, evoking the traditional German hunting knife and distinguishing police officers from their military counterparts. The police eagle crossguard and the distinctive scabbard fittings complete the pattern.

Police daggers are significantly rarer than Heer or Luftwaffe examples — the police were a smaller organisation and production numbers were correspondingly lower. The stag horn grip is also more susceptible to damage than the synthetic grips used on military daggers, making intact examples harder to find.
