WWII German Luftschutz Helmet
A used World War 2 German Luftschutz helmet that saw some action. Not the most desired, but nice. This example shows honest service wear consistent with active use by a Luftschutz warden during the Allied bombing campaigns of the mid-to-late war years.
The Luftschutz civil defense organisation was responsible for protecting German civilians during air raids — directing people to shelters, fighting incendiary fires, and clearing bomb damage. Their helmets were issued in large numbers and saw hard use throughout the war.
While not the most sought-after variant in the Luftschutz collecting field, this is a genuine period piece with honest wear that tells a real story of the home front experience in wartime Germany.
