WW2 Luftwaffe M40 Helmet
A WW2 Luftwaffe M40 helmet in good overall condition. The M40 was the standard German steel helmet from 1940 onward — the simplified rolled rim replaced the earlier M35 flange, and the design was produced in vast numbers by multiple manufacturers across Germany and occupied Europe.
Luftwaffe M40 helmets are distinguished from Heer examples by the single Luftwaffe eagle decal on the left side. The right side, which on early-war helmets carried a national shield (black-white-red tricolour), was left bare on mid- and late-war production as a cost-saving measure. A helmet with both decals intact is an early-war piece; a single-decal helmet is mid-war or later.
This M40 is a solid representative example — complete, in good condition, and correctly identified as Luftwaffe by its eagle decal. A strong addition to any German helmet collection.
