WWII Eisenhower D-Day Letter

Part of the personal collection β€” not for sale

This is a genuine WWII Eisenhower D-Day letter β€” one of the most historically significant documents of the entire Second World War. On the eve of Operation Overlord, Supreme Allied Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower issued his famous Order of the Day to every soldier, sailor, and airman under his command, informing them that the Great Crusade was about to begin.

The letter, dated June 6, 1944, begins with the words: 'Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months.' It was distributed to the hundreds of thousands of Allied troops participating in the Normandy landings and has become one of the defining documents of the war.

Original Eisenhower D-Day letters are among the most prized pieces of WW2 paper ephemera. Each one was held by a soldier who participated in the largest amphibious operation in history β€” a direct connection to the turning point of the war in Western Europe.
